NEG attempts to contribute to a broader understanding of how the construction industry works with the circular economy. Therefore, a questionnaire is now being sent out targeting performing craftsmen, consultants, builders, and other relevant actors. The purpose is to uncover the industry's current knowledge of the circular economy and assess the extent to which the principles have been implemented in practice.
Since the beginning of the project, NEG (Network for Business and Recycling) has followed Holbæk Municipality's work with the demolition of a former school building, where the focus has been on sustainability and the circular economy. The demolition has been carried out with particular emphasis on the sorting of recycled and recyclable materials, correct storage, and efficient transport of building materials that can be given new life in future projects.
In the coming time, NEG will also follow the craftsmen who will be working with, among other things, facade cladding made of recycled materials. By documenting this process, the long-term goal is to contribute to upgrading the skills of craftsmen and ensure that education matches future demands for circular practices in the construction industry.
