The building, which spans over 1,000 square metres, consists of 26 modules. They will accommodate 50 prescholers, an SFO, a production kitchen, staff facilities, and several group rooms.
What makes the project unique is that many of its building components are made from reused materials. The façades are constructed with 36,000 bricks salvaged from the previous building on the site. The previous building has also supplied timber for the upcoming playground. At the core of the new kindergarten in Svinninge are 26 concrete modules that can be dismantled and reused in future construction projects. Watch the two day assembly of the modules in 30 seconds
Materials such as doors, windows, LED lights, toilets, and sinks from the previous building have been moved to a municipal storage facility in Holbæk, where they will be stored until they can be reused in other public construction projects.
The new pre-school is expected to be ready for children to move in at the beginning of November 2025.
