Reuse of marine sediments

In late August, the FBB project team in Kalmar attended the launch of the first products, paving stones, made from dredged sediments from Malmfjärden. Its a follow-up to the study visit held during the May project meeting.

Together with Dutch company Netics, Kalmar Municipality is exploring how lake and sea sediments can be pressed into blocks resembling concrete paving stones. With customised moulds and high-pressure technology, the material can be turned into building products for car parks, walkways, and other urban spaces – offering a sustainable alternative to traditional concrete.
