On the 21st of October 2025 architects, engineers, planners, researchers, public decision makers, students and many more gathered in the foyer of the Faculty of Design and Architecture in Wismar for the Research Day 2025. The public event was hosted by FutureBalticBauhaus together with two more projects by the Wismar research team: DigibauMV by the Mittelstand-Digital Centre Rostock and the Alliance for sustainable building in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (AnBMV).
A morning filled with inputs
During the morning several short lectures were held by our researchers, representing the hosting projects and principles, as well as companies and stakeholders practicing and demonstrating these values, such as NOMAD architects from Latvia, Andreas Flock from brandkontrolle in Stralsund, Gereon Uerz from GROPYUS and representatives from the Competence centre KEDi.
FutureBalticBauhaus workshop
With new ideas and inspiration from the morning’s talks, the participants had the chance to join several workshops during the afternoon. These included simulation games for monitoring and digitalisation of companies, AI tools demonstrating aesthetics in reuse architecture, AR participation and interactive circular planning.
In this last workshop, organised and hosted by FutureBalticBauhaus, participants were placed in the planner’s perspective and encouraged to design a fictional project as circular as possible. An evaluation grid guided the process, including circularity, flexibility and the impact of the individual projects. The evolved discussion and ideas gave the impression individuals are greatly interested in the subject and ready to get started, with some needed guidance!
