Throughout the autumn, work has continued on developing a prototype for a digital platform – the so-called Demolition Map. The platform aims to facilitate the reuse of building materials by allowing companies involved in demolition projects to upload information about materials that can be reused in new constructions.

The goal is to create a concrete link between demolition and new construction, where early information exchange is key to enabling more reuse. The target are contractors, architects, and developers. This approach helps extend the life of materials and reduce the climate impact of construction projects.

The assignment includes:

  • Selecting a database/digital platform for mapping construction and demolition projects
  • Defining the data to be published
  • Implementing the mapping in cooperation with the urban planning office and industry stakeholders
  • Testing mapping models for 15–20 buildings

During the autumn, the project has taken several important steps forward. A digital platform has been identified, and examples of the data to be implemented in the system have been selected – including:

  • Address and property designation
  • Building type and owner’s contact details
  • Project status
  • Floor area and number of storeys
  • Structural materials
  • Estimated demolition date
  • Contact person
  • Digital images of the building
