Linnaeus University joins two study visits to Växjo and Jönköping which focuses on circular construction and sustainable building materials. Participants explores reuse facilities, innovative projects, and expert lectures, gaining practical insights and exchanging knowledge to support more sustainable building practices.

Växjö/Vöfäb: Two storage facilities where five key building components, such as doors and windows, are prepared for reuse in new projects.

Study visit to Växjö

The first visit is a part of the university’s research into circular solutions in construction, a major consumer of resources and producer of waste. The trip went to Vöfab a municipally owned property and construction company where partners discussed future collaboration and ways to promote more sustainable practices.

The tour included two storage facilities where five key building components, such as doors and windows, are prepared for reuse in new projects. The visit offered practical insights and highlighted the high quality of reused materials, challenging assumptions about “used” products.

Study visit to Jönköping/Godahus

Linnaeus University participates in the annual Godahus Study Visit that focused on circular construction and sustainable building materials. During the visit, participants explored several innovative building projects that demonstrated how materials can be reused and how sustainable materials can support long-term sustainability. One of them was “Werket”, an impressive reuse project where they managed to preserve a seemingly murky and dark colossus of a building and transform it into an attractive place full of life.

The program also included inspiring lectures in which experts shared their experiences and research. The visit provided a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas and knowledge with professionals, researchers, and companies working toward a more sustainable built environment.
