Interview with Project Lead Linda Camara

In a recent interview, Future Baltic Bauhaus project lead Linda Camara (City of Kalmar) highlighted how Kalmar is accelerating its work towards climate neutrality by 2030. She emphasised the key role of reuse in the construction sector, which accounts for a large share of both emissions and waste.

Linda outlined Kalmar’s ambition to establish a physical and digital marketplace for reused building materials, with the goal of opening already in autumn 2026. The marketplace aims to serve both companies and private individuals, creating an accessible hub for high-quality reused materials.

She also stressed the importance of behavioural change, noting that when people see refurbished materials in good condition, acceptance grows quickly.

Future Baltic Bauhaus supports this transition by exploring practical tools and models that can make reuse a natural part of future construction in the South Baltic region.
