Circular Construction and Reuse

Published 26-03-2026

Linnaeus University has recently participated in two regional initiatives aimed at advancing circular construction, reuse practices, and sustainable management of existing buildings.

Participation in “From Idea to Action – Collaboration and Planning for Building Reuse in Blekinge” (March 11, 2026)

The meeting gathered actors from the public sector, private companies, and regional organizations to strengthen collaboration around building reuse in Blekinge. Participants were introduced to practical examples of circular material flows and how municipalities and organizations can integrate reuse of building and furniture materials. A workshop provided valuable input on current needs, potential business models, and the development of a future regional reuse hub.

Linnaeus University in the ROBB Program (Starting March 5, 2026)

Linnaeus University also took part in the ROBB knowledge‑building program, which brought together 30 participants from the property management and construction sectors, given by the CEE project, which is financed by ERUF as well as Region Kalmar and Region Kronoberg. ROBB consists of seven training sessions beginning 5 March 2026, covering strategic planning, energy systems, maintenance, and circular building practices. A key component of the first session was the climate and economic benefits of reuse. The program also included study visits with a strong focus on reuse, offering hands-on insights into how reused materials and circular methods are integrated into renovation projects.
