The meeting provided an important opportunity for the project partners to exchange information, share progress from their respective organisations and discuss how the work is developing in relation to the objectives set out in the project application.
The programme, prepared by Holbæk Municipality, included several inspiring presentations and study visits. The Swedish partners from Kalmar particularly appreciated the dialogue with the EU project Circular South Baltic, represented by Roskilde University, as well as the visit to a vocational school for craftspeople.
During the study visit, participants were shown how the reuse of building materials has become part of the education for both bricklayers and carpenters. One concrete example was a prototype of a masonry wall where reused bricks had been incorporated as part of the construction. This provided valuable insight into how circular building practices can be introduced in practical vocational training.
The Kalmar partners will bring these experiences back to Sweden and explore how similar knowledge and working methods could be shared with vocational schools and craft education programmes in the Kalmar region.
On the second day, the partners continued their discussions on how Future Baltic Bauhaus and Circular South Baltic can cooperate further. Both projects expressed an interest in continued dialogue and exchange of information, and the possibility of arranging a new physical meeting in autumn 2026 was discussed.
The Swedish partners from Kalmar would like to warmly thank Holbæk Municipality for the generous hospitality, the well-organised programme and two highly valuable days of exchange, learning and cooperation.
